NASA Fires Rocket At Mars-See Why

NASA's Curiosity rover spotted a strange  rock on Mars, so of course, it shot it with a laser.

The intrepid, car-sized robot found an egg-shaped, golf ball-sized shiny rock that looked unlike any other rocks around it on Oct. 27.

NASA Scientists controlling the rover  suspected that the odd rock is an iron meteorite that found its way to the Martian surface.

So to confirm their suspicions, the researchers had Curiosity fire its laser at the meteorite.

The laser instrument (called ChemCam)  has a specific scientific purpose. The instrument can decipher the chemical makeup of target rocks by gathering data on the types of light the rocks emit when hit with the laser beam.

According to Curiosity's chemical analysis, the rock discovered last week is made of nickel and iron. In addition, Curiosity also found an iron-nickel-phosphide mineral that is relatively common in these kinds of meteorites, but rare in other rocks, according to NASA.

These metal meteorites are also thought to be leftovers from the cores of asteroids floating around out in the solar system.

"Iron meteorites provide records of many different asteroids that broke up, with fragments of their cores ending up on Earth and on Mars," Curiosity team member Horton Newsom said in a statement.

"Mars may have sampled a different population of asteroids than Earth has."

This isn't the first meteorite a NASA rover on Mars has spotted.
NASA's Opportunity rover — which is still roaming the surface of Mars — found another iron-nickel meteorite on the planet's surface in 2009. That meteorite, known as the Block Island meteorite, is 2-feet-long, but Opportunity also found another, smaller space rock on the red planet in 2004.

You Can Now Cast Harry Potter Spells From Your Android Phones

Android phone owners should be able to do magic now, thanks to a neat partnership between Google and the upcoming film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," which is set in the Harry Potter wizarding universe. But apparently, some of our phones flunked out of first-semester Charms class.
Google's blog on Tuesday announced three spells, straight from Potter-land, that are supposed to work with Android phones. We tried them out, to mixed results.

Saying, "OK Google, Lumos!" is supposed to turn the phone's flashlight on. This mostly worked, but be sure to pronounce "Lumos" carefully. Once, Google thought I was asking the phone to find the Seattle bar Neumo's, which rhymes with "Lumos." (Not sure what the drinking age was at Hogwarts, but am pretty sure that Harry wouldn't make the cut, at least in the early films.)
To turn the flashlight off, say "OK Google, Nox!" This worked better than "Lumos" -- not once did my Android give me results for "bagels and lox" or "Amanda Knox" instead.

And to turn off your phone's ringer and notifications, you're supposed to say "Silencio!" But when I did, my phone replied, "Here is some information about Valencia." I tried again and it offered me info on "Dillon, Colorado." Guess Google really wants to be my travel agent. Third time's the charm (or the spell), as on try No. 3 it did silence my phone. Just like magic! If you're really bad at it!

No Confidence For Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has not scored in six Premier League games, most recently failing to score in the goalless draw at home to Burnley on Saturday.

Manchester United have not won in four games and Wilkins believes the stalemate at Old Trafford was a setback in Jose Mourinho's pursuit of the Premier League title, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all winning.

How M.i, Davido, falz, Ice Prince shut down Abuja

The music concert witnessed a premium line-up of stars that performed to the high admiration of a drenched audience at the Old Parade Ground, Garki, Abuja. Despite the downpour, the resilient crowd was determined to have an amazing night. Revelers at the Abuja concert labeled the line-up that included Davido, Darey, M.I, Ice Prince and Falz a constellation, a tag that aptly summarized the offerings for the night. Dee Jays Neptune and Big N were not left out from the line up at the concert hosted by Gbenga Adeyinka. It was definitely a remarkable concert as the best of Nigerian music boomed from the lyrical heavyweights.

Star Lager, sponsors of Star Music The Trek had promised mind-blowing performances and engaging conversations with the fans. The evening brimmed with expectations and gradually swelled into an exciting party. Davido was the headline act for the Abuja concert. The ‘bravado’ synonymous with the Omo Baba Olowocrooner was evident as he mounted the stage. True to his hype of being the archetypal rich kid, he commenced with his “Dami Duro” track-an expected introduction to the Abuja audience. For a predominantly youth crowd, the audience sang along as Davido bestrode every angle of the stage.

The Yoruba lyrics did not disturb their accompanying chants, which continued as he switched to his many popular songs. Not one to pull his punches when it came to stage delivery, he altered the music to more hard-hitting tunes such as “Skelewu” and “Owo ni Koko”. It was energy and talent rolled into one until he left the stage. Making his first appearance on Star Music The Trek was Darey whose performance closed with his now famous prayer song “Pray for Me”. This ushered in a religious ambience to the venue.

Rooney Finally Speaks On His Poor Performance And Retirement

England and Manchester captain Wayne Rooney speaks about his career following his international axing. The Three Lions captain has been out of form for both club and country following his recent performances in the Premier League and against Malta where he was booed at Wembley Stadium after a miss-hit shot.

Rooney who will turn 31 this month has also come under fire form the fans at Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho has been forced to relegate United’s second all-time to goal scorer to the bench. Rooney is England’s highest goal scorer with 53 goals since making his debut in 2004 and have just one goal to his name for both club and country in the last 12 matches. And Rooney reacted: “It is something which I have to go through. I am big enough to deal with it.” He continued: “I believe I can come back from this. I am 30 years of age.

I am not 35 or 36 where you are thinking: ‘Can you get back from it?’ I will keep working and I have said before that I will not stop playing for England and start going to Dubai for a few days in the international break.” The striker explained: “After the summer it would have been easy for me to walk away and say: ‘That’s it, I’ve had enough,’ but that’s not me. I feel I have a lot to offer and I’ve made that clear [to Southgate], certainly until the World Cup in Russia. That’s what I want. I’m not suddenly going to turn round and say: ‘I’m not playing, I’m not going to turn up.’ I will turn up when called upon and be ready.” Rooney added: “Ryan Giggs at 30 wasn’t the same player he was at 18 and he played until he was 40. There’s lots of examples out there you can use – players re-evaluate and work out the best way to move forwards.

I’m sure that will happen with me. I am not naive in terms of thinking that I am still a 20-year-old. I understand that. My game is different to that of a 20-year-old, but I also think I have qualities that can help move this team forward.” The forward stressed: “I’m not denying it’s a difficult moment but I have to show the right attitude, try to be positive and make sure I am supportive of my team-mates.”

My take on Ndigbo and Fulani herdsmen- Pete Edochie

Veteran Nollywood star, Pete Edochie shares his candid opinion about the spate of Fulani herdsmen attacks and what it means for the Ndigbo. The actor stated this in a proverbial way during an interview with Ugwumba Television. He also speaks about some other happenings in the country, particularly the decline of the speaking of the Igbo language.

About the Ndigbo, an apex Igbo socio-cultural group in Nigeria, he said, ‘The Igbos do say that Igbos don’t have kings. If you look at it you’ll see that we don’t have a king.’ ‘If all the Igbos come together and say this is where we shall stand, no president of Nigeria will turn their back on us. God supports the Igbos very well, Igbos are rich all-round the world, even in Nigeria but we haven’t shown that we love ourselves very much. If we love ourselves very much and stay together no one will defeat us.’ ‘If all the Igbos come together and say this is where we shall stand, no president of Nigeria will turn their back on us. God supports the Igbos very well, Igbos are rich all-round the world, even in Nigeria but we haven’t shown that we love ourselves very much. If we love ourselves very much and stay together no one will defeat us.’

‘I was reading a daily the other day when Fashola said by 2020 that Nigeria will be powered by coal, the coal that is in Enugu and Kogi. Why did he not come to Enugu to announce such if he really meant it? These are the things our people should be insisting on.’ About Fulani herdsmen, the legendary actor said, ‘if an innocent child is respecting you whilst you flog him, he would retaliate when you force him to a tight corner.

Difference Between Van Gaal And Jose Morinho

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has pointed out the main difference between Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal.Mourinho replaced his former mentor in the summer after the Dutchman had spent two years with the Red Devils, winning an FA Cup.

In an interview with El Correo, Herrera hailed Mourinho for giving the team more freedom to express themselves on the pitch, adding that the Special One has given him the chance to get forward more often. “Mourinho encourages me to do it,” Herrera said. “I scored recently in the cup and I have hit the post [against Northampton] from long-range too.

“Mourinho gives you more freedom as a player; he wants the player’s instinct to come through. It’s true that you then have to have that defensive order but he tells us to let that if that instinct guides us on the pitch then we should try things.” The 27-year old has made eight appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring once. He stood out in United’s games against Leicester and Stoke, prompting a call up from Julen Lopetegui to the national team.

He Got 6 Years For Duping An Actress

Jesse Jagz speaks

Jesse Jagz has never shied away from speaking his mind. The rapper and younger brother of Chocolate City records CEO and fellow rapper M.I Abaga in a recent interview with HF TV cleared the air on his earlier statement on why his ideal woman is deaf and dumb.“I’m a real African man. I don’t believe in some of the western values women these days adopt. I think it makes them less of a woman and more like a man.

So it’s not like I don’t value a woman’s opinion, I do but a woman can’t advise me on anything. You can’t advise me on my music. You can help when I have writers block so the less a woman talks, the less she listens. I just want a woman as calm as the ocean.” He said. The self-styled emperor also revealed a surprising detail about himself.

See How A Star Is Formed

The biggest stars in the galaxy take about 100,000 years to form, which is the blink of an eye in astronomical terms. (A smaller star like the sun takes millions of years to form.) So it is rare to find a star more than eight times the mass of the sun (big enough to supernova at the end of its life) while it is still forming, and astronomers led by the University of Cambridge just found one that is more than 30 times the mass of the sun, and still growing.

The forming star, or protostar, is about 11,000 light years away, in a much denser and more volatile region of the galaxy. This is another reason it can be hard to find young massive stars among the 100 billion stars in the Milky Way—they tend to form far away from our calm little galactic neighborhood.

The find represents an exciting opportunity to study one of the most massive stars in the galaxy while it begins its short and violent life. The researchers discovered that the star is forming from the center of a rotating disk of gas and dust, called an accretion disk, just like smaller stars such as the sun. However, the newly discovered star and its surrounding disk are so massive that it is possible that not only planets, but other stars will form within the accretion disk to ultimately orbit the bigger host star—a solar system of smaller solar systems.

Donald Trump Critically In Debt

Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump has, for most of his life, exaggerated his claimed wealth, and a new investigative report from The New York Times shows Trump awash in massive debt — more than double what he claimed he and his companies owed in the financial report he filed as a requirement for running for the Presidency.

How much debt?  At least more than $2 billion in just one partnership owed to a string of lenders that includes The Bank of China and Goldman Sachs.

The Times reports Trump is part owner of an office building on Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan that has around $950 million in debt and is involved, literally, in hundreds of LLCs and other companies with billions more in massive loans.

Trump claims his personal wealth exceeds $10 billion.  Financial firms like Forbes finds he is worth less than half of that claim and the Times investigation suggests that Trump, for all his bravado and high-living lifestyle, is virtually broke.

Beyoncé And Rihanna Concerts Half Empty See Reasons

Have you ever gone online to buy concert tickets the second they went on sale, only to find out that the event is already sold out? It’s such a let-down. From there, your only option is to buy tickets through a site like StubHub or Craigslist, where people re-sell the tickets for way higher than face value. Sometimes it’s worth the inflated cost, but most of the time, we throw in the towel and curse the ticket touts.

Ticket touts are becoming a noticeable problem. Even the most popular musicians in the world, like Beyoncé and Rihanna, feel the effects of ticket touts. Both the Formation world tour and the Anti world tour hit Wembley Stadium this year, and despite both women selling out the venue, half of the 90,000 seats were empty. That’s a lot of unclaimed chairs.

Anton Yelchin ‘Star Trek’ Actor Dies at 27

The LAPD said he was pinned by his own car at his Studio City home. Friends apparently became concerned when Yelchin did not show up for a band performance. They found him at his home pinned between his car and a brick mailbox pillar.

“It appears he had exited his car and was behind it when the vehicle rolled down a steep driveway,” the LAPD said in a statement.

Police reportedly told TMZ that the engine was still running when he was found, and that his car was in neutral. It’s not clear why he got out of his car with the engine running.

His most prominent role was as Pavel Chekhov, the Russian ensign in the rebooted “Star Trek” film series. The most recent film in the franchise, “Star Trek Beyond,” debuts on July 22.

NASA Sets Fire In Space On Purpose

What happens when a fire starts in space?

Until Tuesday, NASA didn't really know — and for a good reason. Scientists and engineers spend years of their lives and millions of dollars building the highly complex, gravity-defying pieces of machinery we send into space. You'd be hard-pressed to find one willing to let you start a fire on their ship, just to see what might happen.

"We tried for years, trying to find a vehicle and a circumstance where this would work," NASA's David Urban said in a video. "Initially they had a 'not on my spacecraft' reaction."

It took some negotiating, but Urban and his colleagues worked out a solution they'd all be happy with: conducting the experiment on a trash-filled Cygnus resupply vehicle making its return trip from the International Space Station. The Cygnus was going to burn up anyway on its reentry into Earth's atmosphere. Why not get a little extra science out of the deal?

Ronaldo was wrong

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo ridiculed Iceland’s celebrations following an improbable 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

“I thought they'd won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end, it was unbelievable," he said.

“When they don't try to play and just defend, defend, defend this, in my opinion, shows a small mentality," he added, "and they are not going to do anything in the competition.”

Ronaldo just doesn’t get it.

Google's Android has too many flavors and Apple isn't the only one who thinks so

Walking through Google's campus on a warm February afternoon, Hiroshi Lockheimer pauses and points to two tourists smiling at their outstretched selfie stick. The world-famous Googleplex is always filled with tourists, who come to gawk and admire the sprawling headquarters in the heart of Silicon Valley.

"Ten years ago, I would have never imagined that," he says laughing, as we pass by.

But it's actually kind of his fault that they're even there. Lockheimer is a big part of the reason smartphones are everywhere. For the past decade, he's helped craft Google's Android operating system, now the most popular mobile software on the planet. Five months ago, he became chief of Android, overseeing development and partnerships and strategizing on how to say ahead of Apple's iOS software for the iPhone and iPad.

When Lockheimer joined Google in 2006, most of the world was still using feature phones that had little or no access to the Internet. The iPhone, unveiled a year later by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, definitely helped popularize the idea of smartphones. And even though Apple sold millions of iPhones in the first year, it wasn't until Android debuted in 2008 that smartphones really went mainstream.

Instead of tying its software to one flagship device (and one carrier, at first) like Apple, Google gave away its software for free. Handset makers including Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG lined up and began offering Android-powered phones that ranged, in price and functionality, from high to low. Suddenly, smartphones were affordable to wider swaths of the population.

Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Hacked

Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center on Wednesday announced that it paid approximately US$17,000 to resume normal operations after digital extortionists knocked its computer systems offline.

The Los Angeles hospital discovered its computer network infected with ransomware earlier this month. Ransomware is a form of malware that scrambles data and key files on a system and demands a ransom be paid for a digital key to unscramble the data.

After paying a ransom of 40 bitcoins, or $17,000, to the extortionists, the hospital was able to bring its electronic medical record system online, HPMC said. Bitcoins are a digital currency favored by cybercriminals because, like cash, they're difficult to trace.

"It is important to note that this incident did not affect the delivery and quality of the excellent patient care you expect and receive from Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. Patient care has not been compromised in any way," HPMC CEO Allen Stefanek noted.

1. Blogging

how-to-make-money-with-niche-sites

One of the surest way to make passive income online is to build a website. I have built a lot of sites in 2015 and majority of them are still earning passive income for me. If you are thinking on starting a blog/website.

Then stop thinking and starting ACTING. Here is one of my popular post on how to build a profitable amazon niche site.

You can make over $500 monthly from your blog if you do it right. Before you build your first website, I need you to  ask this questions, what can I offer to my visitors? What ways am I planing to monetize my website? Can I churn out content for my website easily? Do I know the topic so well that I can answer any question that my visitors ask? Can I RANK for my site easily on google and other search engines? If you have answers to this questions, then you are on the right track.

Before you start a site, you need to know your topic, the keywords you are trying to rank for… I have said this a thousand times, and I beg you to allow me to say it again.

Google's Virtual Reality Tinkering May Get More Real

Google is developing a standalone virtual reality headset that will be several steps removed from Google's Cardboard VR, The Wall Street Journal reported last week. Instead of relying on a user's smartphone and a lens-fitted cardboard headset, it will have all the necessary components built in.

It also won't have to rely on a PC or a console for processing power as do Sony's PlayStation VR, HTC's Vive and Oculus VR's Rift headsets, according to the Journal's sources. It will have integrated processors, lenses, cameras and sensors.

Chipmaker Movidius will provide the chips for the headset, enabling the device to track the motion of the user's head based on input from the product's cameras, according to the WSJ.

Cook Takes Encryption Battle to the Streets

CEO Tim Cook on Tuesday brought Apple's dispute with the FBI to the public. Cook penned an open letter explaining the company's resistance to a federal magistrate's order to create software that would let authorities access data in an iPhone used by the shooters in last year's San Bernardino terrorist attack.

Carrying out the order could undermine the security of all iPhone users, Cook argued.

"The United States government has demanded that Apple take an unprecedented step which threatens the security of our customers. We oppose this order, which has implications far beyond the legal case at hand," he wrote.

Apple has complied with the FBI's request for information regarding Syed Farook's iPhone, having provided all of the data in the company's possession, according to Cook's letter.

The problem surrounds the FBI's request that Apple provide a "back door" to the iPhone's encrypted data, something Cook said is "too dangerous to create."
