Are Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan Signed On for Fifty Shades of Grey Spinoff? Get the Details!

Christian Grey may not want to see you now!

Yes, two Fifty Shades of Grey sequels are still hitting the big screen in the years to come. But when it comes to the possible spinoff in development, the A-list roster remains in serious question.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are signed on to star in the three Fifty Shades films. Their contracts, however, reportedly don't include spinoff language in the deals.

The studio declined comment on plans for a fourth film. Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, the second and third installments of E.L. James' trilogy, are already scheduled for a Feb. 2017 and Feb. 2018 release date respectively.

While rumors continue to spread about a possible spinoff on the big screen, Universal Pictures is focused on their next film that is still in need of a director.

In April, James' husband Niall Leonard signed on to write the script for the forthcoming Fifty Shades Darker. The established author and screenwriter has written for various British TV shows including Air Force One Is Down and Wire in the Blood. Luckily, sources tell THR that a director decision could come in the next two months.

After Fifty Shades of Grey received so much success at the box office—a whopping $570 million worldwide isn't so bad—it should come as no surprise that other Hollywood stars are taking advantage of the popular series.

Open Road Films announced Wednesday afternoon that they acquired Fifty Shades of Black, a spoof on Johnson and Dornan's beloved movie. Marlon Wayans has signed on to star in the film as well as write several scenes. A tentative release date is scheduled for January 29, 2016. It's just more proof that love never dies.
